Reading a Pre-Acquisition Audit Report

Before you wire payment for a second-hand mining lot, an independent audit report gives you measured data instead of a seller’s spreadsheet. Here is how to read ours.

Section 1: Physical Inspection Summary

We document chassis condition, fan operation, power supply connector integrity, and visible hash board wear. Photographs accompany any defect noted. Cosmetic damage does not automatically fail a unit, but bent heat sinks or corroded connectors often predict problems within months.

Section 2: Bench Run Data

Each unit runs for 48 hours at stable load. We record:

• Average hash rate (TH/s)
• Average power draw (W)
• Calculated J/TH
• Reject rate percentage
• Peak intake temperature during the run

Compare these figures to the seller’s stated specification. A gap of more than one efficiency class is grounds for renegotiation or rejection.

Section 3: Efficiency Class Assignment

We assign a class from A (best) to E (below acceptable threshold for Korean industrial tariffs). The class reflects measured performance, not the manufacturer’s original rating. A unit sold as “Class B rated” that measures Class C has likely degraded or was misrepresented.

Section 4: Recommendation

• Pass — Unit meets or exceeds stated specification. Proceed with standard due diligence.
• Conditional Pass — Unit is usable but below stated class. Negotiate price or plan for early replacement.
• Fail — Unit does not meet minimum threshold for cost-effective operation. Do not deploy.

Acting on Conditional Results

When some units pass and others receive conditional pass in a mixed lot, calculate the blended efficiency of the full deployment. Four Class B and two Class D units in a six-unit lot may average to Class C — which changes your electricity cost projection significantly.

What the Report Does Not Cover

We do not assess seller reputation, title ownership, or shipping logistics. The audit covers hardware condition and measured performance only. Combine our report with your own legal and commercial checks.
